Pound of Flesh (Arcane Casebook Book 10) | Wow, just wow. I could not put this book down. I couldn't sleep, and I certainly couldn't wait until the end. Excellent work by a skilled wordsmith.

Mind Games (Arcane Casebook Book 4) | another great story! As usual I love all these books so far and I’m going right on to the next one after this. The last book I said it was a good read for those who like things like the Dresden files but in this book I realized that it also reminds me of the Thin Man movies but then add magic. Anyway, I recommend them. Get them.

Pound of Flesh (Arcane Casebook Book 10) | It's an interesting whodunit, with magic. Pound of Flesh continues the high standard set by the series, but I enjoyed that the investigative aspect of this story was emphasized more than in some of the other recent volumes, which have emphasized action and magic more. The magic was there, as always, and was integral to the storyline, but did not dominate the narrative. I enjoyed it very much.

Pound of Flesh (Arcane Casebook Book 10) | Excellent series The books are fast-paced, and I look forward to the next book. It is interesting to read how Dan Willis has incorporated history with the magic the characters use. While I am waiting for the next book in the arcane series, I am reading the books in his other series.

Pound of Flesh (Arcane Casebook Book 10) | I can’t get enough I don’t wanna spoil anything so I’ll just say good old-fashioned detective work can go along way. And sometimes the body just needs to heal.

Ghost of a Chance (Arcane Casebook Book 2) | Magic & Mystery Writing You Can’t Put Down A book of mystery & magic that chains you to an emotional and entertaining roller coaster. The plots will challenge your thinking, the main characters will seem like family, and above all else you’ll be glad you read the book.

In Plain Sight (Arcane Casebook Book 1) | Good noir fantasy Great book. Starts off fairly gripping, then it’s off to the races. Interesting characters, clever plotting that isn’t overwrought. I read it on Kindle, and I’ll be grabbing a physical copy for my collection.

Capital Murder (Arcane Casebook Book 7) | action packed mystery Another great addition to the series. This time taking Alex out of New York and into Washington; always great to see a little more world-building. Multiple simultaneous cases and quite action packed.

In Plain Sight (Arcane Casebook Book 1): First book in the series, good but they get better I saw this book through a Facebook ad, one of the few cases of the algorithm getting it right. It was cheap enough to take a shot at and I enjoyed it pretty well. It has some spots where it could do with a bit of copy editing but the story was enough fun to get me to take a chance on book two, then three, and so on. Ordered this at the end of January and I'm just about to finish book ten in mid-April. People who enjoyed Glen Cooke's Garrett series might like this, although it's set in 1930s NYC rather than being full-on fantasy. Give it a shot. 4 stars for the editing (spelling mostly) issues, but the rest of the series will be getting 5 stars.

Ghost of a Chance (Arcane Casebook Book 2): A really fun series This is book two, picked up the first one because it was cheap (Kindle edition) and worth a flutter. I love the characters and especially the world-building of a 1930s New York where magic is a real and daily thing. It's similar to the 1990s HBO film "Cast a Deadly Spell." If you liked book one, the series improves from there out.

Mind Games (Arcane Casebook Book 4): Fresh and New I continue to enjoy the character development, and the time period in which these books are depicted. Can't wait to see how future developments flesh out these characters and their relationships.

Shadow of Anubis (The Arcane Irregulars Book 2): Why give a review It was a great read. At times, it's a little confusing, two plots that can stand alone. Love the way the author mix them together. Strong characters that'll make you want to keep reading to see where it is going. It is a five-star read, and I look forward to the next one.

Ghost of a Chance (Arcane Casebook Book 2): Enjoyed the story and series so far but have a couple of quibbles I enjoyed the story and characters but there were a couple of references that might work better in a title/series set in a later era, not one necessarily based in the 1930s. One was a reference to an image and how it might be viewed on a television (uncommon in American households at the time) and another introducing his secretary as "Ms." (a designation that entered into more common usage in the late 1960s / early 1970s). But for now I'll go along with an argument that the Arcane Casebook world and history differs -- in some cases considerably -- from our own and author Dan Willis opted for inclusion of those elements as two more ways it sets things apart.
