☹ Only accept booking because at least 4 other people had booked. They would not open restaurant on original booking because I was the only booking
Thanks for the review, Ross. We appreciate you making a reservation to dine in Jumbucks. As you were the only person booked in that night (for a late booking), we had to weight up the likely cost to open for the night (approx $565 in wages and overheads) against the anticipated spend of one guest ($55). It's not too hard to see why we made the difficult decision to cancel our staff shifts and one customer for the night. We may have opened had there been more bookings. We regret that we were unable to open that night and hope that you enjoyed your visit later in the week, and that it wasn't too inconvenient to utilise one of several venues within walking distance of the motel.

☺ The room is roomy and comfortable with good facilities. Very comprehensive prior communication made check-in easy and efficient. Information was also provided on restaurants and things to see in Burra. The in-house restarurant has an interesting menu, for which booking in advance is encouraged, but see later comments on this.
☹ We had not booked the in-house restaurant in advance as we could not commit to an exact time of arrival. On arrival we saw the interesting in-house menu and expressed interest in eating there. We were told the in-house restaurant had space for us if we waited, which we did. However, we were not told that most of the items on the in-house menu would not available by the time we sat down. If we had known in advance we could have gone somewhere else in Burra to eat.

Following you initial enquiry shortly before 7pm, out waiter, Jonas, advised me of you impending arrival at which time I informed him that we were out of stock of some items as we had already taken orders from a significantly higher number of guests than we were anticipating (hence why we encourage people to book as it helps us to ensure we have enough food for everyone). Jonas immediately attempted to call you to alert you of the stock situation, both on your mobile and the room phone, and even walked up to your room and knocked on the door. He was unable to reach you, but did advise you of this when you arrived at 7:15pm. The other venues close at 8pm (one at 8:30pm), with the closest hotel being a mere 350m down the street. Although there was still time to change your mind, we appreicate that you decided to stay anyway and hope that you enjoyed your meal and get to choose from our full menu next time.
